Before I was in office, a war was going on between North and South Korea. The war had officially started in 1950 when North Korea had made plans to lunch an invasion across 38 parallel. This is the border that separated North Korea from the South. They even had different rulers. North Korea was ruled by Kim ll Sung and South Korea was ruled by Syngman Rhee. When the U.S. had heard about North Korea's plans, the 8th army immediately got involved to help South Korea defend themselves against the attack.
North Korea kept towards Pusan South Korea. this made it more difficult for the US troops and South Korea to defend themselves especially with the 8th army getting trapped in the enemies territory. North Korea invaded South Korea in June 25,1950. The war got so intense that America would take any chance they had to attack.
During that time I was running for president the campaigns were mainly involved with the war. I knew that I had a lot ahead of me, but I was not going to back down. I even promised to go down to Korea and solve the issue. When I was elected that was just what I did.
I started having peace talks and a few months after, the Chinese sent notice that they wanted to put the war to an end. In July 27,1953 papers were signed and the Korean war was over. Ever since the end of the war North and South Korea have remained enemies. In 1960 Syngman Rhee, leader of the Southern region, resigned after student riots, which made the South very unstable.
